I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Sitting here checking out Runner's World, and didn't realize there were so many types of shoes to run in! Wow! The idea escapes me in disbelief. I have been running in a pair of Nike Tennis shoes for over a year now, and ... I'm suppose to change shoes after about 300-500 miles or so! Ok, I have seen the odometer on cars, but... quite honestly, I didn't know I had one. I just know I set my goal weekly for the distance I want to run, determine how far that would be (how many laps on the track) and get out there and DO IT! So there ya go! I'm some crazy country chic who's clueless on all these modern conveniences. NO, I'm not afraid to admit it! When I say I'm gonna run a mile, I know three laps on the track I run, is a mile. A man actually got out there and measured it with one of those thang-a-majeegs that looks like a bicylce wheel on a stick.
Back to knowing how many miles I actually run, and when I'm suppose to trade in my shoes for a new pair. What have I been thinking? Well, I ran a mile this week, and I'll try to run a mile and 1/2 next... that's how I've been doing it. A beginner's log would be a great tool! Not only would it tell me the mileage on my shoes, but it would also show how much progress I've made. I wish I'd known all this ages ago, but I was so excited over the few pounds I'd lost, how far I'd come... was pretty obvious... at least at the time! Ya know!
Any tips you seasoned runners could share, are always welcome! I'm being true to who I am now (Did I say that correctly? Who, or Whom)... Oh well, it's all about running!
I'm going to try something else before I give up on the pain in my hip. It's much better now, and I'm going to try running straight instead of on an incline. I'm almost positive it could be the angle in which I am running. If it doesn't seem to get worse... then I'll know it was the hill.
